“Symphoria Musical Night” Revives the Golden Era of Laxmikant–Pyarelal in Lucknow

Lucknow: The timeless melodies of legendary composer duo Laxmikant–Pyarelal came alive at the Symphoria Musical Night, held at the Prominent Mall, captivating music lovers across generations.

Organised by Shivanjana and Bharatiyam, the event was curated by Amit Srivastava and Rajeev Ranjan Singh. The evening featured popular Mumbai-based singers Alok Katdare and Gul Saxena, along with renowned drummer John T Hunt and Lucknow’s well-known ensemble Violent The Musical Band.

The event celebrated the golden era of Hindi film music, offering audiences a refreshing return to original compositions in an age dominated by remixes. Established in 1984, Violent The Musical Band set the tone for the evening with its dynamic musical arrangements, while John T. Hunt impressed the audience with his signature drumming style, having previously collaborated on compositions by maestros like R.D. Burman and Jatin-Lalit.

The performances featured a rich repertoire of evergreen hits. Gul Saxena enthralled the audience with songs like Satyam Shivam Sundaram, Tere Mere Beech Mein, and Hawa Hawai, while Alok Katdare delivered powerful renditions of Meri Umar Ke Naujawano, Ek Haseena Thi, and Haal Kya Hai Dilon Ka. Local artists Kuldeep Chauhan and Divyanshi Maurya added charm with soulful performances of classics like Chahoonga Main Tujhe, Parda Hai Parda, and Bindiya Chamkegi.

Duet performances further energized the crowd, with combinations of artists presenting iconic numbers such as Ek Pyar Ka Nagma Hai, Jumma Chumma De De, and Hansata Hua Noorani Chehra. Audience requests were also entertained, adding to the lively and interactive atmosphere.

According to Rajeev Ranjan Singh, Shivanjana continues to promote music and theatre through various initiatives, including its digital platform “Shivanjana Music” on YouTube, featuring popular tracks like Koi Humdard and Khoobsurat Tum. The organisation has previously hosted events such as Pancham Dhara—a tribute to R.D. Burman—and theatrical productions like The Clown–Vidooshak and Daddy at Sant Gadge Ji Maharaj Auditorium.

The evening concluded on a high note, with thunderous applause echoing through the venue, marking the event as a memorable musical celebration for the city.
